In My Rose Garden
In my Rose Garden of memories
I see you standing there
An angel in disguise
Who taught me how to care
I long to hear your voice
for real not in my dreams
I am missing you so much
how empty my world seems
People say time heals all wounds
that someday the pain will subside
But Grandma I can tell you
I think they must have lied
The emptiness I am feeling now
is strong and I am weak
These days go by without you
so deary and so bleak
In my Rose Garden of memories
I know you'll always be
for though your're gone
from this mortal world
In my heart you'll always be
If Grandma had a meaning
I'll tell you what it'd be
if you were close to yours
like mine was close to me
Grandmas are always there
to lend a shoulder and dry your tears
to comfort you in everything
and help conquer all your fears
Despite all the wrong you've done
and all the wrong you'll do
a grandma will always be there
and unconditionally will love you
A grandma will inspire you
to follow your every dream
she tells you "you wont be alone"
because you're going to be a team
Grandmas are always busy
although their hearts are tame
they tell everyone about you
so everyone knows your name
Grandmas will keep everything
from when you're young till now
and when you dance on Broadway
for her you'll take a bow
Without grandmas we'd be lost
and our tears would not be dry
and we would not be encouraged
to spread our wings and fly
To my grandma I say "Thank you"
My heart will always be
with you every day, and I know
you're here with me.

Well a year ago I entered the RCIA program in our parish to complete something I have been wanting to do with my life. Ever since I married my husband I would attend Mass with him on Easter and Christmas but never anything more. After his heart attack and stroke I knew it was time to complete something that has been tugging at my heart for year's. I will be baptized, confirmed and take Eucharist for the first time at the Easter Vigil this April. I love my faith, finally in a good place in my life-moved back home with my family, married a wonderful strong man, completed a huge goal and loving life.
Grandma Rachel

Well, it has been a while since I last posted but I have been dealing with the recent loss of my precious Grandmother. I miss her but I am grateful that I got to be with her in her final days and learn just how amazing she is and the depth of her love for me.
She taught me many things growing up but the biggest lesson is the love of family and God's love for me. I only hope I am able to pass that on to my own grandchildren.

Completed one big goal!
Well, I did it I completed my bachelor's degree in Business Management! That was the most exhausting and rewarding experience. I am taking some time off to rest and get my business going and make the decision if I am going to get my Master Degree or is as far as I want to go in my education. Life is a bit difficult, with Joe not working currently and not getting his disability has made finances very tight, but I know I need to have faith that God will show me the path I need to follow. I am applying to every position I can and struggling to pick up some bookkeeping clients. Hopefully something happens soon with the holidays around the corner.

25th Reunion for Class of 1984
Taft Union High School
Taft Union High School
Well, it has been 25 years since I graduated high school, it was nice to see so many friends from school. Some have changed some have remained the same, it amazing how our lives have changed and the paths that we choose to follow but we are still one large group of friends and we all shaped each other to who we are now. We have lost some classmates to cancer and other health issues, it is sad and but at least we know they are in a better place. I am looking forward to our 30th hopefully more will be able to make the next one.

Another blessed year
April 26, 2009
Our 6th Wedding anniversary, we went to PF Chang's for dinner the other nite and Joesph got me a digital camera I have been wanting so I can enjoy my scrapbooking. I love working on getting all the old pictures together of my family and friends from over the years.
We leave in a couple of weeks to fly back to Louisiana for my oldest son's graduation, I am so looking forward to it! Now I have a awesome camera to take more pictures and add to my scrapbook!
Met some friends from high school at the Olive Garden for lunch today, we are working on our 25 year reunion for this Sept, lots of work but so exciting to re-connect with everyone.
Well, I'll write more tommorow. Off to bed for me.

1 Corinthians 13
Love
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

My little shadow

My little shadow, fluffy butt aka Akane, the family kitty. I have been dealing with a cold this last week and she has been determined to get me to stay in bed so she can curl up and sleep on my hip, well she thinks that is her spot. She kneads my hip, which reminds me, she needs her nails trimmed again, ouch!
She is a real chatter box, she fusses if we are not up at her time frame for breakfast every day or if the neighbor kitty is in her window, we hear about it. Right now she is in the hallway meowing to me, she wants to either play or go to bed, but until I get up from this chair I am going to hear about her displeasure. She is even working on getting my husband to bend to her wants and needs, she is beyond spoiled, well we think she is...lol.
It's been a long week, work-school- final's in a week-struggling to get final projects completed. I am so looking forward to the year sabatical, I need it before entering the Master's Program.
Well, I am off to get some rest and hopefully this cold gives up..tired of couphing.....

Spring is coming soon
Well, my son is now 18 and ready to graduate from high school. Hard to believe this little guy is all grown up into a strong young man ready to enter the adult world. Things have changed over the last 18 years, some good, some difficult but in the end they were for the best. I am so happy to be moved back to California, I missed the nice calm weather, well when you compare it to LA and WA weather this is calm.
Well had a great time last Friday celebrating my cousin Wyatt's 8th birthday and enjoy holding the newest addition to the family, Mindy's first granddaughter, baby Kia. It is so wonderful to see my grandmother holding baby Kia...the oldest and the youngest in our family.
We are settling into the new house, love our cute little condo! Now to get some painting done and get it decorated. Tony put up my cutains in the living room for me and I have most of the boxes unpacked, little by little, I am getting them unpacked and finding a place for everything. Still on the lookout for a nice buffet and hutch for the extra storage and a place to put my pretty dishes and such.
Tony is in physical therapy for his hands, getting better but still not able to straighten his ring finger where the doctor did the sugery. We go see him in march to see what has to be done next.
Well, I have things to get done and we meet with the Priest later next week to prepare for our renewal ceramony next year, have lots of planning for that and already found my dress; now to get it ordered!

The "new" Veca mobile

Well, as much as we wanted the HHR, with the economy as it stands, we chose to buy a used truck from my cousin. I really do love it and having wheels again is nice. Ours is white with all the goodies.
With Tony's recent health issues, we started looking for an apartment that is not a townhome. We found one and I love the neighborhood, what is even better, our new home is right behind the ward building and that makes me really happy.
We have a great park in our new neighborhood which will be great for our evening walks and not too much a drive to my office or the library when i need to do research for school.
Halloween was quiet and Thanksgiving was fun, we drove to LA to spend the holiday with Tony's father and step-mother. I miss the big family gatherings, but since grandpa passed back thru the veil, the family only gets together at Christmas, so I am really looking forward to then.

Fall has arrived
We are settling in living in Bakersfield, Tony is getting better every day. The weather is finally turning cool, not as cold as it was in Seattle, but enjoyable. We found a nice large condo we looking into renting, move from the townhome since it a bit difficult for Tony to handle the stairs now.
We "Meme" has given in and is buying a new car. Tony finally has won his discussion that we can afford a car note and it is time to give in and admit, I really do want a new car, well at least newer than I have had in the past 7 years. We are waiting to hear from the bank, we are looking at buying a 2007 Chrysler HHR. I do love the style of the car and it has plenty of room with great fuel mileage.
Well, need to get back to the books.

It's been a long week
Monday was ok, then things got a bit difficult. My husband hasn't been feeling well and so I called his doctor to make a appointment to bring him in and after talking to the doctor, I was told get him to the ER now.
We went on in and found out that he was having and had been having small heart attacks! Well the hospital admited him for a further testing and he ended up in the cath lab for a electrical study of his heart, that came out good. They sent him home wed night and I thought ok, he will be good just needs time to heal and give his new blood pressure meds time to do their job.
I was wrong, he woke up at 6am, unable to talk clearly to me and had lost feeling on his left side, so I call 911 and back to the hospital we went, found out during the nite he had a TIA stroke. He is home now and getting better, with physical therapy and time he will gain back his strength on the left side.
We do have to be even more careful since now he could have more of the TIA strokes or a full blown stroke.
We are just taking each day as it comes and enjoying it. You just never know what is around the next corner.

Finally a day off
Well, I love the new job and so glad to back living in Bakersfield, CA. I will be even more happier when I get the living room semi-unpacked and straighten up.
We are settling in and Tony is getting use to the weather, no more dampness and rain. We went down to his dad and step-mother's last weekend. It was really wonderful to be around them and we are making plans to enjoy more time with them, they are excited to have us around to go and do fun things with them, since we are only a few hours drive from them now.
I am also enjoying the time to catch up with my little sister, Jenn and her boys.
Well, need to get some household chores done while I have the time.
